Horizon Fleet 2013 Annual Awards

It is with great pride and deepest pleasure I announce to you the recipients of the Horizon Fleet 2013 Annual Awards. Hopefully you will recognize a few familiar faces among their number. Without further adieu...
Simulation of the Year (2013) - Starbase 484
Starbase 484, recipient of the 2013 Horizon Fleet Simulation of the Year Award, was nominated by Commodore Erik Tsereteli (Task Force 22 Commanding Officer) "for Captain [Aurora] Trax's tireless efforts at bringing [her] simm to fruition and the crew's diligence in posting". Rear Admiral Jordan Rabb (Task Force 42 Commanding Officer) also nominated the station for this distinguished award.
Character of the Year (2013) - Lieutenant Ophelia Lysander, MD (USS Yorktown)
Lieutenant Ophelia Lysander, MD of the USS Yorktown has received the 2013 Horizon Fleet Character of the Year Award. She was nominated by Lieutenant Aniela Darvetti, who had the following to say about the good doctor:
"As a fellow crewmember on the Yorktown, I find Dr. Lysander an intriguing character. Her heritage (Human/Vulcan/Betazoid) is well integrated into the character's actions and personality. While some [Chief Medical Officers] might find it difficult to come up with posting ideas when there aren't medical emergencies, she is able to write interesting posts that give us a better feel for her. Her writing is strong and the inclusion of her young daughter allows for even more opportunities."
It is worth noting this is the fourth year (awards were not given for 2012) that a member of this simulation has been nominated for and chosen to receive the Horizon Fleet Character of the Year Award.
Commanding Officer of the Year (2013) - Captain Tobias Naros (USS Yorktown)
Captain Tobias Naros of the USS Yorktown has received the 2013 Horizon Fleet Commanding Officer of the Year Award. He was nominated by Commodore Erik Tsereteli (Task Force 22 Commanding Officer) "for his tireless efforts, creativity and being an all-around good character." In addition to Commodore Tsereteli (who also plays Chief Operations Officer Lieutenant Torin Drell aboard the USS Yorktown), nominations were also received from Rear Admiral Jordan Rabb (Task Force 42 Commanding Officer) and Lieutenant Aniela Darvetti (Chief Science Officer, USS Yorktown), the latter of whom had the following to say about Captain Naros:
"Captain Naros does an excellent job coming up with interesting missions. He's always willing to JP with his crewmembers and provides them with ideas as needed. Although he has been semi-LOA during the summer, he still encourages his crew to post and keeps in contact with them regularly - something that's not always easy even when one is not on LOA. He's also an excellent writer and comes up with numerous details for his characters, missions, and various mission elements."
It is worth noting that Captain Tobias Naros previously received the 2011 Horizon Fleet Executive Officer of the Year Award while serving as Executive Officer of the Excelsior-class USS Orlando.
XO of the Year (2013) - Lieutenant Commander Nora Zeral (USS Malinche)
Lieutenant Commander Nora Zeral of the USS Malinche has received the 2013 Horizon Fleet Executive Officer of the Year Award. She was nominated by Commodore Erik Tsereteli (Task Force 22 Commanding Officer) "for her creativity and will to assist Captain Kersare on the Malinche." In addition to Commodore Tsereteli (who also plays Chief Medical Officer Lieutenant Setak aboard the USS Malinche), nominations were also received from Rear Admiral Jordan Rabb (Task Force 42 Commanding Officer) and Captain Isabel Kersare (Commanding Officer, USS Malinche), the latter of whom had the following to say about Lieutenant Commander Zeral:
"Over the past five years, Lieutenant Commander Zeral has been a vital member of the USS Malinche. When the Executive Officer spot opened up, she welcomed the idea of getting more involved and has been a great contributor. Not only is she an excellent writer; she is also always there when you need anything. She has gone to great lengths to further develop her character as well as numerous NPCs and is able to come up with unique, interesting plot ideas. Lieutenant Commander Zeral is always happy to JP, discuss how to move a mission forward, discuss new missions, and work with the rest of the crew. Even with her [real life] responsibilities, her enthusiasm for the simm is a great motivator and driving force for us. If every simm could have an XO like her, they would be in great shape."
It is worth noting that Lieutenant Commander Zeral has the distinguished honor of having been named recipient of three annual awards this year (XO of the Year, Character of the Year, and Post of the Year) for her work aboard the USS Yorktown and the USS Malinche. Congratulations!
Post of the Year (2013) - Counselor Karyn Dallas & Lieutenant Commander Nora Zeral (USS Malinche)
Again, congratulations to the 2013 Annual Award recipients for all their hard work and dedication to their simulations as well as the larger community.
