Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is my pleasure to announce the arrival of Lieutenant Commander Xavier Nor'el, the USS Yorktown's new Executive Officer. Commander Nor'el comes to us with some interesting personal and professional experiences prior to his arrival aboard the Yorktown. I look forward to serving with him as we continue preparing for our first assignment.

Which brings me to my second bit of good news. I know things have been a little loose around here lately with my own semi-Leave of Absence, recent personnel changes, and our efforts to get the simulation moving forward. The good news is that all our work the past few months has paid off. You have all done an amazing job boosting our posting activity this month with character development and descriptions of your characters settling in aboard their new home. I enjoyed reading every word that has been posted so far and it has left me looking forward to what is in store for all our characters.

The arrival of Lieutenant Commander Xavier Nor'el brings our crew manifest back up to six members, the number required by Horizon Fleet to be considered an active simulation. This means we are finally able to move forward with our first assignment as the USS Yorktown. Well done!

I hope to be wrapping up our current mission by the end of this week and have already prepared a few introductory posts which will be going up around that time to help us transition into Episode 1.1 - "MystiQue". The USS Yorktown will soon be receiving her first mission orders after which she will proceed to Cardassia Prime where Federation negotiators have been working with members of the Detapa Council to arrange the shipment of much needed medical and relief supplies to ailing Romulan colonies. Our job once we arrive will be to help the negotiation team finish negotiations and to observe the official vote of the Detapa Council. However, everyone knows there's no such thing as a simple jaunt for Federation starships. Take a peek at the upcoming missions page for more info on what we might expect en route to Cardassia...
